As part of our continued focus on talent, and the younger professionals working at Alliott Global Alliance member firms in the APAC region, we recently caught up with Isabella Fraser, a Solicitor at our law firm member Broadley Rees Hogan in Brisbane, Australia. We asked her to share with us why she chose a career in law, what motivates her and what she values from being part of the Alliance.

POSITION AND TITLE:
I am a Solicitor in the property and estate planning services teams at Broadley Rees Hogan, a law firm based in Brisbane, Australia.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE LAW AS YOUR CAREER?
I am able to work with clients from project concept to fruition and beyond, often celebrating the journey of the client and protecting them from arising problems.

WHAT IS THE BEST PART OF YOUR JOB?
For some, it may be the adrenaline rush when litigating a high-stakes case or receiving a favourable court decision or arbitral award. But for me, the best part is receiving a message from a client that they appreciate the work I have done for them.

Having built a level of trust, it is being part of the journey for most clients from concept to fruition means I can share in that excitement and celebration of the transactional journey. These journeys can be simply buying or selling a home, or structuring and undertaking a small land development, or setting up their estate for the future and the benefit of their family. At the end of the day, I love that my clients trust me to look after their legal interests.

WHAT IS YOUR FIRM'S DIFFERENCE IN YOUR OPINION?
Being a firm of approximately 28 years, we have built our success on a reputation for personalised legal services tailored to individual needs in order to foster long-standing relationships with our valued clients. This approach, underpinned by our broad industry experience, extensive practice knowledge and strong focus on efficient, flexible and cost-effective service, differentiates us from many other firms in Brisbane.

WHAT DO YOU CONSIDER TO BE YOUR BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT TO DATE?
Professionally, I’d say my biggest achievement to date is obtaining two University Degrees in Law and Business, a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice, and a Master’s Degree in Applied Law majoring in property law by the age of 28.
Personally, I’d say my biggest achievement was taking the plunge to move abroad at 21 for further studies without any family or connections already in place.

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU?
The success and growth of my clients.

NAME ONE THING YOU CANNOT DO WITHOUT?
A good science fiction novel.

ARE YOU A MEMBER OF ANY COMMERCE, CULTURAL OR COMMUNITY ORGANISATION?
Member of Queensland Law Society (QLS)
Graduate Fellow of the College of Law Ltd (Collaw)
Member of Property Developer Network (PDN)
Member of BX Business Networking (Bx)
Committee Member and Merchandise Co-Ordinator for Centenary Stormers Football Club (CSFC)

WHAT IS THE ONE THING YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE ALLIOTT GLOBAL ALLIANCE IMPLEMENT:
Online events with commencement times compatible with Asia Pacific time zones.
