"The course was very good - provided at the right technical level and the presenters very knowledgeable. I would definitely attend another course."

22 delegates from nine member firms across Europe and the United States attended the inaugural training day organised by the International Tax Services Group

Held in Amsterdam at the Grand Hotel Amstelveen, the transfer pricing course provided intermediate level training for Alliott Group members and ensured attendees gained a good understanding of the latest OECD BEPS developments as they relate to transfer pricing and permanent establishment and a good grounding in how to advise clients on some of the technical aspects.

Both of the course instructors (from the IBFD) have Big Four backgrounds and shared insights into recent transfer pricing developments including important concepts related to value creation and substance, and intangibles. Attendees were also walked through the practicalities related to the new transfer pricing documentation requirements and given insights into the types of financial transactions seen within multinationals.

The international tax landscape is changing as never before, with national governments working together at the international level to take on tax avoidance and achieve greater transparency. The course ensured that attendees are even better equipped to advise their clients by covered issues such as the use of intra-group services, intra-group finance and how to manage permanent establishment risks in a Post-BEPS World, specifically as it relates to BEPS Action Point 7.

Adding value

"This training illustrates the value-add we provide to our members. While it is indeed technical training that any professional firm can buy, we enhance its value by ensuring members can discuss their business in a non-competitive environment with people they know, trust and enjoy spending time with from similar sized firms," comments CEO of Alliott Group.

Instructors provided a thorough grounding in transfer pricing in Amsterdam

The meeting was preceded by an informal dinner the evening before, with local firm Borrie kindly organizing a dinner in Amsterdam's canal district.

Training for the EMEA region will take place 1-2 times per year in a different European city and will focus on different international tax topics. Different training courses are anticipated for other regions. Our thanks go to our Netherlands member firm Borrie for their assistance in planning the event. For more information, email Giles Brake.
