The origins of Alliott Global Alliance

Jamison Alliott which was initially formed in 1968 and known as Jamison Cassidy & Co. of Melbourne, through Barry Jamison, commenced discussions with Alliott Peirson International in London with a view to acting as Australian representatives in a worldwide association and in June 1979 was finally requested to take up the Australian connection.

The Firm has continued as an original Member of the Group and over many years has worked with numerous other Member Firms throughout Europe, Asia Pacific and the Americas. This has provided our clients with the much needed specialist advice on international tax and accounting matters.

At the start of 2019 just before the COVID pandemic hit Melbourne, Australia, Jamison Alliott relocated from the Melbourne Central Business District to Malvern East in the inner south-eastern Suburbs, to provide a more accessible service to our wide cross section of Clients. With Melbourne’s population growing rapidly it became evident that our clients were less likely to visit us in the Central Business District. As it turned out, the decision turned out to be most advantageous with the long periods of COVID lockdowns that were enforced in Melbourne in 2020 and 2021.

It was with great pleasure that in November 2022 AGA CEO Giles Brake and CGO Damien McMenamin visited our new premises and met the Jamison Alliott team, which currently comprises 3 professional staff all with between 7 and 20 years with the Firm, two specialist consultants and our newly appointed Practice Manager, Helen Canny.

At the visit we discussed the history of the Alliott Global Alliance and the role of Barry Jamison, Jamison Alliott’s Founding Partner, in the Group which involved Board Membership, the carrying out of countless Peer Reviews over the years and attendance at in excess of 40 conferences around the World.

This photo shows the Alliott Group flag which contained all the small country flags of the members, which had been sewn onto it every time someone was admitted as a Member. This was presented to Barry at the World Conference in Cairns in 2004 at the end of his Board Membership of 20 plus years. He had been World Chairman from 1989 to 1992.

I proudly presented the Alliott Group flag, which had been in Barry’s personal possession for some years, to Giles so that it could be returned to its rightful home at the Head Office of Alliott Global Alliance in the United Kingdom.

Jamison Alliott is pleased to report continued growth and success of the Firm and the Firm’s clients over what has been a difficult time on the World scene over recent years. Our flexible “Working From Home” policy has produced an increase in the Team productivity and allowed the invention of new ways of delivering Client Services in a professional and efficient manner.
