Successful international tax training event draws 21 attendees from 10 countries to Milan
29 October 2018
The alliance's third international tax training event, led by the IBFD, took place in Milan on 19th October 2018.
"I really enjoyed the case law session which brought up real instances where VAT matters became really fundamental."
Jonathan Vassallo, Director, Dixcart Management Malta
The one-day international tax training course held in Milan on 19th October was a great success, with the event averaging 8.7 out of 10 among the 21 attendees from 10 countries across Europe.
Giles Brake, Head of Marketing at Alliott Group comments: "This was the third tax training event and the growing interest among members is reflected in levels of participation which keep increasing. So far, we have covered transfer pricing, international tax structures, EU VAT and permanent establishment rules. Members are making valuable cross border contacts and gaining critical knowledge of tax best practice in the post-BEPS business environment. This adds real value to the business of their clients. I am confident that we are ahead of other international associations in offering this service to our members."
Split into two sessions, the day covered the evolving harmonization of VAT rules in the EU and recent case law related to permanent establishments. The training programme, led by international tax experts the IBFD, was carefully designed to help members to anticipate how future changes will impact their clients.
Training was preceded by a networking dinner attended by participants and members of local firms BES Associati and B4LEX at Ristorante Ratana in the centre of Milan
The choice of VAT as a training topic aligned perfectly with the recent launch of the alliance's VAT/Indirect Tax Services Group led by Mickael Tatayas of Tax Consult who was also in attendance.
"This was a very good opportunity to meet other tax technicians across Europe."
Delia Orme, Partner, Alliotts, UK
We now look forward to the next training event in spring 2019 (exact date TBC), with a number of locations under consideration including Barcelona, Brussels, Germany, Malta and Paris. Future training is likely to focus on e-commerce and taxation of the digital economy.
We are very grateful to Giorgio Marcolongo and his team (Sofia, Diego, Paolo, to name just a few) at local accounting firm member BES Associati in Milan for their exceptional support in organising this event and their excellent hospitality.
