J. Balasubramaniam (‘Bala’) elected Chair of APAC region
23 January 2025
Alliott Global Alliance (AGA) is pleased to announce the appointment of J. Balasubramaniam (Bala), Managing Partner at Singapore accounting firm member JBS Practice Public Accounting Corporation (JBS), as Chair of the APAC region, effective 1 January 2025.
Previously the region’s Deputy Chair, Bala succeeds Scott Jago, Director at Sydney accounting member Allan Hall Business Advisors, who led the region with distinction since 2021. Bala’s appointment coincides with a period of rapid regional growth, with AGA now offering legal and accounting services across 19 countries in the APAC region. This expansion has led to a reorganization of the region's structure into smaller sub-regions, each with their own unique strategy and value proposition designed to better support the unique needs of its member firms.
Bala is supported by a Zone Manager in each sub-region: Amie Cheung of accounting member firm Lawrence Cheung (Hong Kong) in the Greater China Region; Lieu Dang of DNA Law (Vietnam) in Asia; and Vanessa Williams of Alliott NZ (New Zealand accounting member) in Australasia.
Bala comments:
“I am honored to step into this role as Chair of the restructured APAC Advisory Committee, and I look forward to working with Amie, Lieu, Vanessa and the Worldwide Board to help implement the next phase of AGA’s strategic plans for the region.
“With the rapid growth of our alliance I am eager to continue fostering strong relationships with both new and established members and together we can work to mutual benefit to achieve collaborative success over the coming years.”
Alliott Global Alliance CEO, Giles Brake adds:
“We are excited to continue our ambitious project in the Asia Pacific under Bala’s leadership. His deep commitment to the alliance, along with his alignment with our mission and values, has been evident since his firm joined in 2017. His contributions to regional growth initiatives have showcased his drive to make AGA the professional services provider of choice to international companies and their owners in the APAC region. We have no doubt AGA will continue to gain strength under Bala’s leadership.”
Across the APAC region, AGA has member firms in Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia. China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.
