Darsi Casey selected for Public Service Award

Alliott Global Alliance (AGA) is delighted to announce that AGA's Worldwide Chair Darsi Casey has been selected as the recipient of the 2024 Public Service Award by the Nevada Society of Certified Public Accountants (NVCPA). This prestigious award recognizes the significant contributions of CPAs outside of the accounting profession, recognizing their volunteer work in community service, charitable initiatives and civic involvement. The Public Service Award is the highest honor given annually to a member of NVCPA, with nominations coming from fellow members, external organizations, colleagues, family, and friends.

Early in her career, Darsi was invited to serve on various boards focused on charitable efforts in areas such as education, pro bono legal work, industry organizations, homelessness support, and the arts. Through her board service, she gained in-depth knowledge of corporate governance and became well-versed in the resources available to Nevada communities. Eventually, Darsi chose to volunteer with Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), a nationwide program that trains community volunteers to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in juvenile court. CASA volunteers are appointed by the court to represent the children’s interests, ensuring that the court has all the necessary information to make informed decisions and safeguard the child’s right to a secure, stable home.

Darsi was drawn to CASA because of her belief that while children are remarkably resilient, exposure to new perspectives can expand their sense of possibility. She believes in the power of offering support, encouragement, or a tool to help as sometimes that small gesture can change a person’s entire outlook. To her, volunteering is like giving a gift; it is done out of genuine desire, not for recognition or a guaranteed outcome. Darsi trusts in the process of doing good, even without knowing how or when the impact will be felt, confident that positive actions bring about positive results in time.
