Approximately 40 firm leaders from across North America, as well as from Europe, Latin America and Japan, attended the North America Leadership & Managing Partners Meeting held once again at The National in Miami Beach from 25-27 January. The meeting was sponsored by QuickFee and Engineered Tax Services

Three days of meetings, including the meeting of the North American Advisory Committee, resulted in productive collaborative discussions that gave participants the new insights they need to influence the future direction and development of their firms and gain additional benefits from Alliott Group membership.

On the Thursday, keynote speaker Bill Taylor of Corporate Ladders outlined his views on the characteristics of a business development centric firm, the intricacies of coaching and developing a multigenerational workforce, how professionals can become "trusted advisors" and how they can better articulate their value proposition to clients.

On the Friday, keynote speaker Mike Platt of Platt Consulting LLC and the Inside Public Accounting publication shared his views on emerging trends in the professional services sector, including interesting insights into whether professional firms are moving into a cognitive era. Platt then followed this up by leading the annual benchmarking session that enables the alliance's North American members to compare their annual differentials to those of the firms reviewed and ranked in Inside Public Accounting's market leading Best of the Best survey.

Santiago Lussich and Mariana Lussich Rachetti of Uruguayan member firm Estudio Lussich Torrendell & Asociados provided a valuable update on why Uruguay is an attractive place to do business for foreign companies, particularly from a tax perspective.

And finally, Bruce Coombes of QuickFee spoke about disruption in the professional services marketplace, the biggest shifts, the role being played by technology, new pricing models and the changing perceptions of value.

In the evenings, members and their companions were able to enjoy each other's company in the art deco surroundings of the stunning National Hotel and in some of Miami's finest eateries in Miami Beach including Italian restaurant Dolce and Nuevo Latino cuisine at YUCA.

We thanks all members and our sponsors and speakers who contributed to another highly successful meeting - we look forward to next year's meeting in Scottsdale, AZ.
