Biography

Arif Virji focuses his practice on labor and employment law and complex commercial litigation, including breach of contract, shareholder disputes, real estate, trade secret and trademark disputes. Mr. Virji’s employment practice includes litigating discrimination and harassment cases, handling retaliation, reasonable accommodation and wage and hour claims and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) investigations. He represents employers in class action lawsuits on a wide range of labor and employment law matters. Mr. Virji also counsels employers in layoffs and terminations, conducts workplace HR investigations and provides day to day advice and counsel to employers on employment issues.
Mr. Virji has handled litigation of a variety of complex commercial disputes, including most recently a successful arbitration on behalf of a major SaaS company in a shareholder dispute. He also handles real estate and related probate matters including partition actions.
Mr. Virji’s practice currently includes advising companies resuming business operations following the lifting of restrictions associated with COVID-19, including risk management of health and safety and employment issues. He has served as a Settlement Conference Pro Tem Judge in San Francisco and Sonoma County Superior Courts and as a mediator for the Equal Employment Opportunities Commission. Mr. Virji is admitted to practice in California and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. He has successfully tried multiple cases before judges, juries, and arbitrators.
